DAY 01: DEPARTURE FROM USA: (Contact us for departure from other cities) Evening departure. Meals and refreshment served on board.
DAY 02: ARRIVE NAPLES: Upon arrival in Naples, you will be met by your English-speaking tour leader. You will then be transferred by motor coach to your hotel on the beautiful Amalfi Coast, where you will stay for two nights. The rest of the day is at your leisure to explore this fascinating region. Welcome dinner in the hotel.
DAY 03: AMALFI COAST: After breakfast, you can enjoy a day at leisure on your own or take an optional excursion to the Amalfi Coast. Visit Ravello where the gardens of Villa Rufolo are located (entrance fee not included). Stop in the town of Amalfi with visits to the historical center including Saint Andrea’sCathedral and the Cloister of Paradise and then back to the hotel via the winding coastal road which opens up to beautiful blue sea vistas! Dinner at the hotel and a pizza making class . |
DAY 4 : AMALFI COAST – POMPEII – ROME: After breakfast, board your bus for a couple of hours ride to Rome. On the way you will be taken inland to explore the excavations of Pompeii, the city that was covered by the volcanic ash of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 AD. After your exploration and lunch on your own, you will be transported to Rome in the afternoon. Enjoy a walking tour to the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps. |
DAY 05: ROME: After breakfast, meet your English-speaking local guide for a tour of the ancient ruins of Rome, which features the Roman Forum, the Palatine Hill, the Imperial Forum and a visit to the inside of the Coliseum. The rest of the day is free to explore Rome on your own. |
DAY 06: ROME: After breakfast, you can enjoy a day of leisure on your own or meet your English-speaking local guide for an optional tour of the Church of St. Peter in Chains and the Vatican Museum. The tour highlights the artistic treasures of the Vatican including the Museum and the Art Galleries, the Round Hall, the Hall of the Greek Cross, the tomb of St. Helen and St. Constance, the Gallery of the Tapestries and Geographical Maps. Finally, visit the Sistine Chapel, famed for Michelangelo’s frescoes, recently restored to their original colors. The remainder of the day is free to explore Rome on your own. |
DAY 07: ROME – ASSISI – SIENA – FLORENCE: Early morning departure for Assisi to visit the mystical town of St. Francis still surrounded by ancient walls. Visit the Basilica of St. Francis with its early Renaissance masterpieces by Giotto and Cimabue before heading to Florence to your hotel for check-in. |
DAY 08: FLORENCE: After breakfast at the hotel, you will have a guided walking tour of one of the most famous cities in the world and the cradle of the Italian Renaissance. The tour includes a visit to the magnificent center of Florence, including the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, with Brunelleschi’s splendid Duomo and Baptistry with the famous bronze doors, Giotto’s Belfry, Piazza della Signoria with the Great Loggia, the Museum of the Academy with the statue of David by Michelangelo and the Ponte Vecchio. Afterwards, explore on your own the other charming streets and markets of Florence. |
DAY 09: FLORENCE – SAN GIMIGNANO – FLORENCE: After breakfast at the hotel, board the motor coach for a drive through the beautiful rolling hills of Chianti which lead to the city of Siena. You will be immersed in the medieval character surrounding this important city. Visit the Cathedral, the Church of St. Francis, the Church of St. Domenico and the Town Hall. After a visit to a Chianti winery/castle with wine tasting, continue on to the town of San Gimignano, perched on a hilltop and noted for its famous towers. In the late afternoon, return to your hotel in Florence. Farewell dinner at Il Latini in Florence. |
DAY 10: DEPARTURE FROM FLORENCE: Transfer to Florence airport and depart on return flight to the USA. |
